DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 700 PM ChST...0900 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression 01W was located near Latitude 5.6 degrees North and Longitude 173.6 degrees East...moving northwest at 9 mph. A turn to the west-northwest is expected tonight, and a general west-northwest motion will continue the next several days with little change in forward speed. This forecast track takes 01W across Mili Monday afternoon, south of Majuro Monday night, and north of Jaluit Tuesday morning.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 30 mph. Slow intensification of 01W is expected the next several days and it could become a tropical storm Monday night or Tuesday.
NEXT ADVISORY ------------- An intermediate advisory will be issued by the National Weather Service at 11 PM tonight, followed by the next scheduled advisory at 2 AM Monday morning.
