DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 400 PM CHST...0600 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression 01W was located near Latitude 5.9 degrees North and Longitude 173.3 degrees East...moving northwest at 9 mph. 01W is expected to continue moving to the northwest tonight with a decrease in forward speed, then turn to the west-northwest Sunday and Monday. This track brings 01W near Majuro Monday morning.
Maximum sustained winds are 30 mph. 01W is forecast to intensify and may be a tropical storm by Sunday evening.
NEXT ADVISORY -------------The next scheduled advisory will be issued by the National Weather Service at 8 PM this evening, followed by an intermediate advisory at 11 PM.
