DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 100 AM CHST...1500 UTC...the eye of Super Typhoon Kong-rey was located near Latitude 19.2 degrees North and Longitude 130.9 degrees East...moving northwest at 12 mph. Kong-rey is expected to maintain this general motion and speed today, then gradually turn toward the north tonight through Friday.
Super Typhoon Kong-rey has peaked, and maximum sustained winds have decreased to 155 mph. Slow weakening is forecast the next few days, taking Kong-rey below super typhoon intensity later today.
Typhoon force winds extend out up to 70 miles from the center, and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 230 miles.
