DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 100PM CHST...0300 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm 30W was located near Latitude 12.4 degrees North and Longitude 143.4 degrees East...moving west-northwest at 24 mph. This west-northwest motion into the Philippine Sea is expected to continue the next few days with a gradual decrease in forward speed.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 40 mph. Tropical Storm 30W is forecast to intensify over the next few days, and could become a typhoon Sunday afternoon or evening.
Tropical storm force winds extend up to 85 miles northeast of the center, and up to 105 miles to the northwest.
