DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 100 AM CHST...1500 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression 30W was located near Latitude 10.0 degrees North and Longitude 147.2 degrees East. 30W is moving northwest at 21 mph. It is expected to make a slight turn toward the west-northwest with a slight decrease in forward speed through Sunday.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 35 mph. 30W will likely become a tropical storm Saturday afternoon or Saturday night, and is forecast to continue to intensify through Wednesday.
NEXT ADVISORY ------------- An intermediate advisory will be issued by the National Weather Service at 500 AM ChST followed by the next scheduled advisory at 800 AM ChST.
