DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1000 PM CHST...1200 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression 30W was located near Latitude 9.3 degrees North and Longitude 148.0 degrees East. 30W is moving northwest at 18 mph. It is expected to make a slight turn toward the west-northwest with a decrease in forward speed over the next 24 hours.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 35 mph. TD 30W is forecast to intensify through Saturday, possibly becoming a tropical storm Saturday morning.
NEXT ADVISORY ------------- The next scheduled advisory will be issued by the National Weather Service at 200 AM ChST followed by an intermediate advisory at 500 AM ChST early Saturday morning.
