Discussion and outlook ---------------------- At 1000 AM CHST...0000 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Maria was located near Latitude 14.1 North and Longitude 144.1 East. Tropical Storm Maria is moving northwest at 10 mph. It is expected to maintain this general direction with a decrease in forward speed over the next 24 hours.
Maximum sustained winds are now 70 mph. Tropical Storm Maria is forecast to intensify over the next few days, possibly becoming a typhoon tonight or early Friday.
Tropical Storm force winds extend outward up to 90 miles north of the center and up to 80 miles south of the center.
Next advisory ------------- The next scheduled advisory will be issued by the National Weather Service at 200 PM this afternoon followed by an intermediate advisory at 500 PM.
