Watches and warnings -------------------- A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Guam, Rota and adjacent waters. Tropical storm conditions, including damaging winds of 39 mph or more, are occurring this morning.
A tropical storm watch remains in effect for Tinian, Saipan and adjacent waters. Tropical storm conditions, including damaging winds of 39 mph or more remain possible later today.

Discussion and outlook ---------------------- At 400 AM CHST...1800 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Maria (10W) was located by radar and surface observations near Latitude 13.6 North and Longitude 144.9 East. Tropical Storm Maria is moving toward the west-northwest at 8 mph. It is expected to turn more toward the northwest with little change in forward speed over the next 24 hours. Maria is currently passing over extreme northern Guam and is now moving off Ritidian Point.
Observations out of Andersen AFB indicate that Maria has intensified with sustained winds near 60 mph over the last hour. Tropical Storm Maria is forecast to continue to intensify the next few days and could become a typhoon by Friday.
Tropical Storm force winds extend outward up to 90 miles east of the center and up to 65 miles west of the center.
Next advisory ------------- The next scheduled advisory will be issued by the National Weather Service at 800 AM this morning followed by an intermediate advisory at 1100 AM.
