DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 100 PM CHST...0300 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm 04W was located near latitude 19.6 degrees north and longitude 146.2 degrees east....moving northwest at about 7 mph. Tropical Storm 04W has passed its closest approach to Agrihan, and is forecast to turn slowly north tonight and Monday, then recurve to the northeast Monday night and Tuesday.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 40 mph. 04W is expected to maintain this intensity this afternoon and tonight, then weaken back to a tropical depression Monday.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward 90 to 115 miles in the eastern semicircle, but only up to 65 miles northwest of the center, and no tropical storm force winds are found southwest of the center.
Damaging winds are not expected at Agrihan as 04W moves away to the northwest, but south to southwest winds could become gusty up to 25 mph at times through this evening.
