Discussion and outlook ---------------------- At 100 PM CHST...0300 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Jelawat was located near Latitude 12.3 North and Longitude 135.5 East. Jelawat is moving north at 9 mph...and will continue with that motion tonight. Jelawat is expected to turn to the northeast with a decrease in forward speed on Thursday.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to 40 mph. Tropical Storm force winds are primarily found on the eastern side of Jelawat where they extend up to 140 miles from the center. Gradual intensification is forecast the next day or two.
