Discussion and outlook ---------------------- At 700 AM CHST...2100 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression Jelawat was located near latitude 11.4 north and longitude 135.6 east. Jelawat is moving north at 8 mph...and is expected to continue northward with little change in forward speed today through Thursday, before turning northeast Thursday night and Friday.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 35 mph. Jelewat is forecast to slowly intensify, and may become a tropical storm later this morning or this afternoon.
