Discussion and outlook ---------------------- At 1000 AM CHST...0000 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression Jelawat was located near Latitude 7.5 North and Longitude 137.5 East. Jelawat is moving toward the west-northwest at 8 mph. It is expected to make a slight turn toward the northwest with little change in forward speed through this evening. This track will take Jelawat between Ngulu and Kayangel this evening.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 35 mph. Tropical Depression Jelawat is forecast to maintain its current intensity through this morning then gradually strengthens this afternoon. It might become a tropical storm this evening.
Next advisory ------------- The next scheduled advisory will be issued by the National Weather Service at 200 PM this afternoon followed by an intermediate advisory at 500 PM.
