Maximum sustained winds...50 mph Present movement...northwest...325 degrees at 13 mph.
DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 700 AM ChST...2100 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Saola was located near latitude 20.9 degrees North and longitude 130.2 degrees East...moving northwest at 13 mph. Tropical Storm Saola is expected to make a slight turn toward the north-northwest by tonight then toward the north on Saturday as it passes near Okinawa. Saola will then recurve to the northeast Sunday south of Japan.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 50 mph. Saola is expected to intensify slowly through Saturday, when it may briefly become a typhoon before starting to weaken Sunday.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 155 miles north of the center and up to 120 miles south of the center.
