DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 100 AM ChST...1500 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression 27W was located near latitude 12.0 degrees North and longitude 151.2 degrees East...moving northwest at 5 mph. Tropical Depression 27W is expected to continue moving slowly toward the northwest through the weekend. The latest forecast maintains a weaker 27W as it heads toward the Marianas, but there is still much uncertainty concerning the storm motion and intensity as model guidance varies widely.
Maximum sustained winds have decreased to 35 mph, but 27W is forecast to strengthen to a tropical storm again later today. Additional slow intensification is expected through Monday.
NEXT ADVISORY ------------- An intermediate advisory will be issued by the National Weather Service at 500 AM this morning, followed by the next scheduled advisory at 800 AM.
