Maximum sustained winds...75 mph Present movement...north...360 degrees at 12 mph.
DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 100 PM ChST...0300 UTC...the center of Typhoon Lan was located near latitude 12.5 degrees North and longitude 132.2 degrees East. Lan is moving north at 12 mph, and is expected to continue along a general northward heading the next couple of days with little change in forward speed. Lan will continue to move away from Yap and Palau and stay well west of the Marianas.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to 75 mph. Lan will continue to intensify over the next few days.
Typhoon force winds extend up to 40 miles from the center while tropical storm force winds extend up to 235 miles from the center in the southern semicircle and up to 190 miles from the center in the northern semicircle.
